Bill Smedley is a co-founder/Editor at Work Editorial with offices in London, New York and Los Angeles.

After getting a degree in History of Art at Manchester University, he worked as a runner in production with director Tarsem but always had a love for editing. He became an assistant, then editor at the edit company OBE and then as an editor at The Quarry.

In 2006, along with editors Rich Orrick, Bill Smedley and Exec. Producer Jane Dilworth, he opened the edit company Work. They had a very simple vision: to found an egalitarian boutique edit house focused on talent and creativity.

Bill has been recognised and awarded many times in both the UK and US. Amongst others, a D&AD yellow pencil and a British Arrow for editing Honda Choir, directed by Antoine Bardou-Jacquet. He also received a British Arrow for editing the powerful film for The Havens Where is your line directed by Sara Dunlop. He also cut the short film Dreamlands for Sara that was shortlisted for the Palm D’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016.

As well as cutting commercials Bill has edited the films Downhill for director James Rouse, Kill Your Friends for director Owen Harris and Moonwalkers for Antoine Bardou-Jacquet.

For the past 16 years Bill has had extremely successful, collaborative and exclusive relationships with top commercial directors including Antoine Badou-Jacquet, Sara Dunlop, Rupert Sanders, Matthius Van Heiningen, Jorn Threlfall, Henry Hobson, Ellen Kuras, James Rouse, Jeff Labbe, Peter Thwaites and many more.

Clients include Honda, Facebook, Visa, P&G, Eli Lily, The Princes Trust, McDoanlds, Adobe, O2, Nike, VW, Axe and Virgin Atlantic.
