Lisa Mehling is an Emmy award-winning Producer and Owner of independent production company Chelsea Pictures.
Chelsea, a creative content company with production offices in New York and Los Angeles, has cultivated a unique and diverse culture of filmmakers who are leaders in advertising, digital, film, television and photography. Lisa’s love for and commitment to the art and business of filmmaking is reflected in Chelsea’s critical and commercial success.
Lisa and the Chelsea team are regarded for their legacy of discovering director talent and offering long term creative management. Chelsea has launched the commercial careers of renowned directors including David Gordon Green, Alex Gibney, and Nadav Kander, Lauren Greenfield and most recently, Nisha Ganatra, Nadia Hallgren and Kevin Wilson Jr.
Chelsea’s celebrated brand work includes a trio of campaigns that landed on Time’s 25 Most Influential Superbowl Spots of All Time list including “Listen” the chilling Cannes Gold Lion winning Super Bowl spot for NFL & Grey directed by Nadav Kander, the multi-award winning “Halftime in America” for Chrysler and Wieden & Kennedy directed by David Gordon Green and the paradigm shifting #LikeAGirl for Always and Leo Burnett . Additionally, Christie’s “The Last da Vinci” the Gold Cannes Lion and D&AD winning film for Droga directed by Nadav Kander, Amir Bar-Lev’s “Answering The Call” for Verizon and McCann winner of four Cannes Lions, and Libresse 2020 #wombstories for AMV/BBDO directed by Nisha Ganatra.
As one of the few women owned and managed commercial production companies, Lisa relishes her platform to help our industry become more inclusive and equitable as well as leverage impact to get behind some of the most pressing issues of our time. Lisa is a member of the Television Arts & Sciences and a member of the Sundance Institute. Lisa serves as Vice Chairperson of the AICP.
Chelsea directors perennially showcase their films at Festivals including Sundance, Venice, Toronto, Tribeca, Berlin and Cannes. Chelsea produced the Oscar nominated short film Killing Joe directed by Mehdi Norworzian, the Sundance Grand Jury Prize nominated Unmade Beds directed by Nicholas Barker, Kids & Money (HBO) for the New York Times and Lisa served as Executive Producer on Lauren Greenfield’s Sundance hits The Queen of Versailles (2012) and The Kingmaker (2019).
Raised in Southern California, Lisa has long called New York City’s her home and lives the East Village with her family.
