Frank Cheng

Frank Cheng is a Taiwanese director working across feature films and advertising. His work combines bold visual imagination with a precise and nuanced sensitivity to human emotion. Whether telling intimate human stories or creating entertaining, imaginative spectacles, he brings a distinctive creative vision to every project.

His commercial work has received major international honours, including the Red Dot Design Award, iF Design Award, MUSE Creative Awards, Summit Marketing Effectiveness Award, and Effie Awards, as well as recognition from the Taiwan 4A Creative Awards. He is also a three-time winner of Taiwan’s Outstanding Advertising Director of the Year award.

His latest feature film, The Photo from 1977 (watch trailer here), is a Taiwan–South Korea co-production and a period drama set against Taiwan’s pro-democracy movement of 1977. Selected for multiple international film festivals, the film reflects the defining qualities of his work: precise visual craftsmanship, cultural insight, and deeply human imagery.
