Damiana Acuña

Born and raised in Mexico, Damiana Acuña holds an M.F.A. in Film Directing from the American Film Institute Conservatory. Her short film Lux Noctis won the Oscar®-qualifying Grand Jury Award for Best Narrative Short Film at the Florida Film Festival.

Her debut feature won five development awards at Ventana Sur, Latin America’s biggest film market, including Sitges’ Woman in Fan, and she was one of five filmmakers chosen by the Breaking Through The Lens initiative to present her project at le Marché du Film at Cannes, 2025.

As a commercial director, Damiana has won a bronze award at the Cannes Lions, two gold awards at El Ojo de Iberoamérica, including Best Female Director of 2025, and a Grand Prix at CICLOPE Latino 2026.
