With a career spanning independent film, documentary and commercial production, Cindy Gabriel is known for championing bold, resonant storytelling. As co-founder of Giant Films, one of South Africa’s leading production companies, she has helped launch and nurture some of the country’s most distinctive directorial voices.
Most recently, Cindy produced The Philipstown WireCar Grand Prix, a feature documentary at the centre of a branded entertainment ecosystem combining film, gaming and long-term social impact. The project has earned recognition at Cannes Lions, The One Show, The Webby Awards, Tribeca X, and the Clio Awards.
Cindy’s producing credits include Forgiveness (2004), winner of the Human Rights Award and Golden Leopard nominee at the Locarno Film Festival; Four Corners (2013), winner of Best Feature Film at the South African Film & Television Awards and South Africa’s official submission to the 86th Academy Awards; Runs in the Family (2023), winner of Best South African Feature at the Durban International Film Festival; and Lilies Not For Me (2024), which she executive produced for Paradise City and Memento.
A respected creative producer, Cindy has served on the juries of the AICP Awards, the Loerie Awards, the South African Film & Television Awards and the CICLOPE Executive Jury.
