Director and photographer Renee Maria Osubu’s films and stills resound with sincerity and warmth. Across her commercial, artistic and documentary reels, key themes of family, childhood, race and spirituality emerge. ‘Dirt in the Diamond’ – Renee’s longform video for Jords won a Young Director Award, four CICLOPE Awards, was chosen as Vimeo Staff Pick and screened in Tribeca Film Festival’s Official Selection. As a commercial director, Renee’s work includes a standout Ashley Waters-starring spot, Prince’s Trust piece ‘Class of Covid’.

Renee broke through with ‘Dear Philadelphia’ – an evolving body of work, which premiered at Sundance Film Festival and won multiple trophies, including Blackstar Festival’s Short Documentary prize, before becoming the focus of her debut solo exhibition at Philadelphia’s TILT Institute for the Contemporary Image. Renee’s photography has claimed a Davis Peace Project Award, two BJP Portrait of Britain Awards, and a Michael Wilson Award.
