Savanah Leaf has transitioned from a 2012 Olympian to award-winning filmmaker.
Her directorial feature film debut Earth Mama, backed by A24 and Film4, premiered at Sundance in 2023, opened New Directors/New Films festival in New York, and won the Audience Award at San Francisco International Film Festival and the Best Director award at Provincetown Film Festival. It will be released in theaters in the US on July 7th 2023. The film prompted Indiewire to say “Learn the name, Savanah Leaf” in a gushing review that echoed many other industry critics.
In advertising, Savanah’s distinct and emotive directing hallmarks have led to work with Beats, Nike, Zelando, Tena and more. Other previous work includes a short documentary titled The Heart Still Hums (2020), which won Best Documentary Short at the Palm Springs International ShortFest, Blackstar Film Festival, Nashville Film Festival, and was released with Fox Searchlight Shorts. Her music video This Land for Gary Clark Jr. was nominated for Best Music Video at the 2020 Grammys.
