Harland Weiss is the Managing Director of OPC, an award-winning narrative and commercial production company in Toronto, founded in 2006.
Harland began his career at an advertising agency before shifting gears into production. He solidified his reputation as a world-class producer in Barcelona before relocating to Canada and opening the doors to OPC. Harland’s passion for the ever-evolving world of film is part of what drives OPC’s success. With his keen eye for talent, and appetite for creative investment, Harland has consistently fostered the development of young directors into global sensations, building a roster of directors and a portfolio of work that stands unrivaled.
Commercially, under Harland’s leadership, OPC’s projects have been recognized at world class festivals and award shows, including CICLOPE, Cannes Lions, YDA’s, Clios, AICP, D&AD, and the ADCC’s. As a company, OPC has thrice been distinguished as the Best Production Company in Canada by the Advertising and Design Club of Canada.
Narratively, Harland has Executive Produced features and short films that have been recognized internationally. Recent highlights include Are You Scared To Be Yourself Because You Think That You Might Fail? (2024), which won the Short Cuts Award for Best Canadian Film at TIFF, was programmed at Sundance (2025) and Clermont-Ferrand (2025), where it was awarded Best Queer Short. Daughters (2024), directed by Natalie Rae and Angela Patton, which premiered at Sundance, winning the Festival Favorite Award and Audience Award: U.S. Documentary before signing a global distribution deal with Netflix, shortlisting for an Academy Award and winning a Peabody; The Maiden (2022), directed by Graham Foy, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival; Benjamin Benny Ben (2020), directed by Paul Shkordoff, which premiered in-competition at the Cannes Film Festival; and August 22, This Year (2020), from director Graham Foy which premiered at the Cannes 59th Semaine de la Critique.
