Rani Zarina Vaz is Managing Partner and Creative Director at Supreme Music, a global music and sound studio with an in-house team across New York, Berlin, and Hamburg. She has spent her career championing music as the most emotionally consequential creative decision in production – and the creators who make it possible.
The daughter of professional musicians, Rani studied at Juilliard, grew up backstage at Lincoln Center and in NYC’s recording studios, before spending over two decades as Director of Music at BBDO NY, where she led music for Pepsi, Mountain Dew, GE, Bacardi, FedEx, Visa, Guinness, among many others. Her work has earned Emmy Awards, Lions at Cannes, Clios, and LIAs, is featured in MoMA and the Guinness Book of World Records, and spans some of advertising’s most memorable Super Bowl moments. She brings a performer’s ear to every project – where human nuances entirely change what an audience feels.
She has chaired the LIA Music Jury and the AMP Awards, and serves as a judge at award shows worldwide.
Supreme Music is currently Music & Sound Production Company of the Year at the Shots Awards and The One Show, and Sound Production Company of the Year at CICLOPE.
Rani continues to perform with orchestras and chamber ensembles in New York City – most recently at Carnegie Hall this past June.

Great ideas rarely die because they’re bad. They die more quietly, through perfectly reasonable decisions. Step by step, originality is sanded down into something everyone agrees with. Music is where this phenomenon is easiest to see. Everyone has an opinion about it, and everyone mistakes taste for judgment.
This conversation brings together voices from different points of the creative and production process to explore how great ideas are shaped, challenged and, sometimes, unintentionally diluted in the pursuit of consensus.
