about the speaker
Toronto native Jeff Low found his way to commercials rather by chance. While working at a computer shop, a friendly customer persuaded Jeff to quit that job and start working for him the next day as a production assistant – the rest was history. Over the years, he worked his way all the way up to executive producer before his curiosity led him to the director’s chair.
Now an award-winning director, Jeff’s work blends a distinct combination of rich storytelling and infectious wit. He has earned accolades from Cannes Lions, The One Show, the London International Awards, Kinsale Sharks, Clios, D&AD, ANDY, AICP, and the shots Awards. In 2024, he was named one of Campaign Magazine UK’s top directors of the year for the fourth time, and in 2022 was the British Arrows’ most-awarded director ever, winning four each in Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
Jeff’s binge-worthy “Better on a Better Network” campaign for Australian telco Telstra includes a whopping 26 stop-motion spots and serves to effectively communicate the vast size and strength of Telstra’s network in a uniquely memorable way. With its compelling characters and cleverly wry dialogue, Ad Age named the campaign as #3 on its list of the year’s best, and it earned a Cannes Lions Grand Prix in Craft. His other recent work includes the surreal Poretti ad “Welcome to the Lake,” which invites drinkers to the beer brand’s ancestral home, and his campaign for Tesco Mobile harnesses the power of comedy to highlight common phone behaviours with cat puppets. Other iconic spots include PETA’s subversive film “Pig Farm,” in which Jeff wrote the song that went along with the retro cartoon-inspired animation; the cinematic “Why Walk When You Can Ride?” for Virgin Media, depicting a wonderfully shaggy Highland cow cruising through the idyllic Scottish countryside on a Triumph Bonneville; and Jeff’s funny and crazed hits for Ocean Spray, “Power Your Holidays” and “Power Your Party.” Additional campaigns include Confused.com, Channel 4 Honesty Box, and Uber Eats.
More than anything, Jeff’s work is informed by impeccable comedic timing. He excels at bringing scripts to life through his singular offbeat humor. He approaches each project with tactical precision and is also known to occasionally collaborate as a writer with agency creative teams.

From Cairns to Fremantle and everywhere in between, Telstra’s award-winning ‘Better on a Better Network’ campaign had Australia covered. Cast from a wide variety of authentic personalities from across the country, each of the 26 stop-motion films focused on a specific location around the great land – and the uniquely idiosyncratic characters who live there.
Director Jeff Low (Revolver, Biscuit Filmworks) and executive producer Pip Smart (Revolver), will join Bear Meets Eagle on Fire’s founder and CCO, Micah Walker, on stage to discuss the creative collaboration behind the craft of this iconic campaign.
