Aoife McArdle is a visionary writer and director celebrated for her bold visual style and meticulous craft across film, television, music videos, and commercials. Hailing from the North of Ireland, she draws inspiration from the rich cultural and natural landscape of her homeland, enhanced by her background in literatura and documentary filmmaking.

McArdle first made waves with music videos for Bloc Party, winning a UKMVA for Jon Hopkins’ Open Eye Signal and earning widespread acclaim for U2’s Every Breaking Wave. Her diverse portfolio includes multiple short films and award-winning commercials for major brands, such as Absolut’s Equal Love and the Squarespace Super Bowl spot The Singularity, featuring Adam Driver. Her commercials have repeatedly received accolades at CICLOPECannes LionsBritish ArrowsD&ADs, among others.

Her debut feature film, Kissing Candice, premiered at TIFF and Berlinale, earning praise for its striking visual style and emotional depth. The immersive art installation All of This Unreal Time, starring Cillian Murphy, further demonstrated her talent for capturing the intensity of ordinary life.

In television, McArdle directed the Apple TV+ drama series Severance alongside Ben Stiller, which received 14 Emmy nominations and a DGA nomination. Recently, she was honored with the BBC Studios Director Award at the WFTV awards for her work on the series.
