about the jury

The road to being the hardest working Executive Producer in the industry started in Simoné Bobo’s city of origin, Cape Town. With her BA Degree in Film & Media from UCT paved the way for the best ideas through her producing. Today, Simoné Bobo is the Founder & Executive Producer of an integrated production company, Osu Creative Productions, as well as the co-founder of a brand new Creative Sports Agency, called Ona & Grace that she co-owns with her husband, Gcobani Bobo. Both companies are named after their children. Osu, meaning to persevere, and her 3 month old daughter Ona, meaning God’s grace.

Osu Creative Productions represents film directors and photographers to produce content for broadcasters as well as commercial content (TV Ads & Stills) for marketing and advertising agencies. Ona & Grace is a Creative Sports agency that represents female athletes with the aggressive attention to elevate their visibility by conceptualizing and producing content with the aim to profile them as well as align them with brands.

Her passion for production and collaborating with talented creatives has been the instrumental vehicle for her growth. She has been a Senior TV Producer at leading ad agencies from Saatchi & Saatchi Cape Town to MetroplitanRepublic and Ogilvy Joburg. She has produced work that has scoped a few birds, pencils and lions. During her years at agencies, Simoné has learnt a great deal about what makes great advertising. Having worked alongside top industry creatives, as well as on renowned brands, Simoné saw the need to become the conduit for new eyes and ideas, particularly in the talents of black film directors and photographers – thus opening the creative economy to be more inclusive. Her journey into entrepreneurship kick started when she, whilst working at Ogilvy Joburg, started selling and producing African Ankara fashion when she partnered with a Ghanian fashion house Charlotte Pive. Through her fashion partnership, Simoné was amerced within the rich West African culture that saw her creating and developing relationships with creative minds in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda.

Facing the realization that digital platforms are fast overhauling transitional media, Simoné believes that we need to have the very generation we are speaking to be the creators of the content. Every frame and every second needs to be meticulously considered and creatively crafted.

Simoné had the honor to be part of the jury panel for various industry awards shows such as The LoeriesD&AD, CiclopeGeretyCannes Young Directors Awards, Buenos Aires Music Video Festival and D&AD Music Video.
