Alex Thomas is a VFX Supervisor and Creative Director based in the Framestore LA office, where he is a founding member.

Originally from Sydney, Australia, Alex began his career as an editor before starting the journey in visual effects with Animal Logic, working across a mixture of film, TV and commercials. After a stint of travel and volunteer work through Latin America, he arrived in the UK, working as a VFX artist at FramestoreSmoke and Mirrors, and The Mill. Joining Framestore full-time in 2005, Alex quickly became a repeat collaborator with top directors including Daniel KleinmannTom Kuntz, and Noam Murro, among others, helping to establish the Framestore New York office along the way.

Working at the intersection of innovative technology and creativity, Alex brings this approach to every project, leading to directorial opportunities for clients including Disney and Beats by Dre, music videos, and festival award-winning short films, gaining DGA membership in 2015.

Alex’s portfolio includes some of Framestore’s most celebrated and diverse projects, including Walt Disney Imagineering on the award-winning Mission Breakout: Guardians of the Galaxy attraction at California Adventure Park. His outstanding images have won him a deserved reputation as a talented and innovative artist. His work is recognized through award wins in the industry’s most prestigious shows, including ClioBTAA, AEAF, THEA Awards for Attractions, and multiple VES nominations.

Always a traveler at heart, Alex has been a member of The Fireflies Tour to Cannes for multiple journeys, relishing the charity efforts and the scenic mountains. The lycra, not so much.
