On November 8 & 9, 2018, about 700 producers and creatives from all over the world enjoyed the unique atmosphere of CICLOPE Festival, the conference and award show exclusively focused on film craft in advertising and music videos.
A jury chaired by Lisa Margulis (The Directors Bureau), Ali Brown (Prettybird) and Rupert Reynolds-MacLean (Biscuit Filmworks) chose -among about 1,000 entries- the best works in 37 categories divided in four sections: BRAND CONTENT / SHORT FORM, BRAND CONTENT / LONG FORM, MUSIC VIDEOS and a SPECIAL SECTION.
More than 100 entries were awarded and three of them received a Grand Prix: “Apple – Welcome home” (directed by Spike Jonze, produced by MJZ and created by TBWA\Media Arts Lab), “Ubisoft – Baptism” (directed by Martin de Thurah, produced by Henry and created by DDB Paris) and “Childish Gambino – This is America” (directed by Hiro Murai and produced by Doomsday Entertaiment).
During the festival, delegates from all over the world enjoyed a complete programme of talks and panels. The line-up of speakers included visual artist David LaChapelle, Lance Acord(director, cinematographer of films such as Lost in Translation or Being John Malkovich), Academy-award winning editor Kirk Baxter (The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, among others), Richard Brim (CCO adam&eveDDB), Jenny Pham (Director of Brand Communications at Adidas Originals), Carl Johnson (Founding Partner of Anomaly), costume designer Sara Sensoy, and directors Crystal Moselle, James Rouse and Emmanuel Adjei, among many others.
Representatives from dozens of companies also had the chance to meet top creatives and producers in The Fresh Market and The Service Market, two exclusive networking activities. After the awards ceremony guests had a celebration party at The Atelier, with director Tom Kuntz and other DJs behind the turntables.
