Sebastian Soukup, whom David Cronenberg referred to as «a full production designer at heart» after the shooting of «A dangerous method», has- apart from Cronenberg- worked with directors such as Larry Charles (Army of one, 2015 ) Volker Schlöndorff (Return to montauk, 2016), Wim Wenders (Palermo shooting ,2007, Everything will be fine, 2014) and Detlev Buck (Gorillas, 2017 ,bibi & tina i-iv, 2013, 16 Rubbeldiekatz 2011).
Sebastian studied architecture at the University of Fine Arts Berlin and has been primarily engaged in international filmproduction as a renowned production designer and scenographer. Prior to focusing on the field of film, he worked as an architect and stage designer at Berliner Ensemble and for Christoph Schlingensief at Volksbühne Berlin.
Moreover, he has contributed with his designs to numerous commercials as well as to music clips by artists such as Rammstein, Bela B, Monica Reyes, Agnes Obél and Jeans Team, and directors such as Jonas Åkerlund and Los Perez.
Soukup’s storyboards for «Palermo shooting» were shown in the exhibition «Between film and art. Storyboards from Hitchcock to Spielberg» at the Deutsche Kinemathek – Museum für Film und Fernsehen 2011. Among his work are as well installations such as «Salon» for Gallery Michael Fuchs, Berlin, 2014.
He was invited several times to give lectures at the Film Universität Potsdam Babelsberg and the Technische Universität Berlin and he hold masterclasses in production design at the Met Film School Berlin and Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin.
