Rebecca Skinner is one of the founders and Managing Directors of Superprime Films. Skinner, a native of New Zealand, began her career with RSA Films before joining HSI Productions in 1996. She proceeded to launch the company’s music video division called Mars Media, and was an integral force in establishing HSI as one of the most reputable producers of music videos in the world.
Within the music video world, Skinner has worked with many award-winning directors and recording artists such as Madonna, Jay-Z, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift and Pharrell Williams. She helped to advance the music video careers of the likes of Paul Hunter, David LaChapelle, Hype Williams and Samuel Bayer. With Paul Hunter, Skinner successfully crossed him over from being primarily a hip-hop music video director into the alternative realm, ultimately directing a Marilyn Manson video.
Skinner soon began working on the commercial side of the business and became a part owner and Managing Director. Her background in music videos and the traditional commercial space allowed her to make a natural transition into longer format branded content and in 2005 she was the Executive Producer of RIZE, an award-winning documentary by LaChapelle. Now partnered with Michelle Ross and John Lesher, Skinner co-founded Superprime, where she is continuing to lead this new venture to the forefront of an everchanging industry, working with acclaimed directors such as Damien Chazelle and Terrence Malick.
Her long list of clients includes brands such as Nike, Apple, Chrysler, Google, BMW, Pepsi and Facebook. Rebecca is known for working very closely with her directors and clients, managing every step of a director’s career, providing full creative and production support to a diverse client and director roster. Most recently, Skinner executive produced a VR project directed by Terrence Malick, which will debut in late 2017.
