Phil was a graphic designer working at GQ magazine when he saw Björk’s seminal “All is Full of Love” promo directed by Chris Cunningham. He quit immediately and got a job at Glassworks, to learn from the VFX team that had created it. Originally training as a Flame compositor, he worked alongside some of London’s best directorial talent, crafting campaigns for Nissan, EA Games, the BBC and Virgin. He then made the switch to becoming a producer, and in this new role, he went on to produce award-winning commercials for brands such as Pepsi, Orange, Sony Ericsson, Smirnoff and Nike.
In 2010 Phil became the Managing Director of Glassworks Amsterdam, transforming a small satellite office into the success it is today: a market-leading and multi-award-winning team of artists creating work for the world’s biggest brands. In becoming COO in 2014, he is now in charge of holistic management of the group. He divides his time between the London, Amsterdam and Barcelona facilities, working closely with their Managing Directors to further develop the combined capabilities of the network.
Always ready for a challenge, Phil divided his employment at the London and Amsterdam offices by cycling 5000km of the Andes from Bolivia to the Beagle Channel. He returned wiser, considerably lighter and with some questionable tan lines.
