Joanna became a copywriter, even though she graduated in Arts Education at University of Brasília (UnB). After completing the course, she went to São Paulo to do a post graduate in Advertising and Marketing at ESPM. But not before spending one year in London studying Marketing and three months in Florence studying Art History and Italian.
Joanna started her career in professional advertising as an intern at Ogilvy (96), she was a copywriter at DPZ (97-99), then she went to W/Brasil (2000-2001) and then to Africa Agency – where she worked as a Creative Director in two occasions (2002 to 2007 – 2011 to 2012). In between she was a Creative Director at MPM (2008 to 2010), also from the ABC group. In 2012, Joanna left Africa Agency to join FCB Brasil, where she became the Creative Vice President in 2014, working for NIVEA, Mondelez, SKY / DirecTV, Petrobras, CNA, Campari Group,  Nestlé, among other clients.
In 2014 her team won 17 Lions at the Cannes Festival. Of which one was a Mobile Grand Prix unprecedented in Brazil (Nivea Protection Ad for Nivea Sun Kids), 5 Gold ( Speaking Exchange for CNA) , 5 Silver and 6 Bronze. The agency’s performance at the festival was the best in the country.
