Saatchi & Saatchi Shanghai

Chief Creative Officer

Fan is a true stalwart of the Chinese advertising industry. He was responsible for some of the most acclaimed campaigns to have run in Hong Kong, including the launch of Orange Mobile Telecommunications, the epic Discovery Bay campaign, and Bounce Back Hong Kong. Along the way, he garnered a slew of awards from Cannes, D&AD, Spikes Asia and Asia Pacific Ad Fest, just to name a few. He capped them with the grand prize at the Hong Kong 4As award show and a “#1 ranking” in Campaign Brief’s list of “hottest creatives in Hong Kong” (2004).

After almost a decade of waving the flag for Ogilvy Hong Kong, Fan was invited to take up the role of Creative Partner at Ogilvy Shanghai to lead the charge in crafting a creative ethos deserving of the world’s fastest growing advertising market. Together with another three creative partners, he successfully, within a year, improved the ranking of the agency from #126 to #32 in Asia (Hottest Agencies in Asia, Campaign Brief, 2007). Fan’s next big step was to assume the helm at Saatchi & Saatchi in Guangzhou, the network’s 2nd largest office worldwide, to manage a creative team of over a hundred. His digital, interactive and integrated campaigns at Saatchi & Saatchi for Ariel, Olay, Head & Shoulders, Crest and Safe Guard have consolidated these brands’ top-selling status across Greater China. From 2011, Fan leads the creative for all accounts including Kraft, Pernod Ricard, General Mills and Citroën at Saatchi & Saatchi Shanghai.

“My philosophy for creating ads and managing creative talent is simple”. Fan espouses: “First, be happy. Everything else flows from there”.
