Julien Meesters sets off his career as a Freelance Flame Artist in 1993 after a graduation in film editing. He joins Mikros image in 1997 where he collaborated on numerous high-profile projects in advertising, music video, and feature films, including Renault Space (Gilles Bawens), Club-Internet (Nick Mathieu), Sensual Wave (Laurent Seroussi), and The Crimson Rivers (Mathieu Kassovitz), to mention a few.

Julien decides to pursue his path overseas and steps up in Academy Award-winning visual effects company Digital Domain – California – in 2003 where he gets to work as a Flame Artist and Visual Effects Supervisor on projects with Joe Pytka (Gatorade, Jordan vs. Jordan) Mark Romanek (Linkin Park). Award-winning feature films, including Spike Jonze’s Academy Award-winning film, Adaptation.

Julien worked extensively in a variety of capacities as a VFX Creative Director and Visual Effects Supervisor on the entertainment industry’s largest scale projects for world famous artists and brands, including Madonna, Janet Jackson, Tori Amos, Oliver Stone, Audi, Nintendo, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Nissan, Dior, Western Union, and numerous others.

He develops a comprehensive approach to VFX supervision on particularly ambitious projects involving 3D, 2D and Physical techniques. Alongside, In 2010, Julien puts development effort toward Animation features. After Academy Award « Logorama », he envision with Mikros team Animation on larger scale project. « Asterix and the Mansion of Gods », « Mune », « The Little Prince » being the first 3 animated features delivered by Mikros Animation Studio.

At 45, he’s Deputy Ceo & Chief Creative Officer of Mikros Image Group, putting his vision to serve the most ambitious projects. From micro to large-scale project, his strongpassion for cinema, animation,VFX and projects are still his main motivation.
