COMMERCIALS and BRANDED CONTENT FILMS  under 180 seconds (3 minutes), created for any media, can be entered in this section. Longer pieces should be entered as Brand Content – Long Form in the corresponding section. Pieces entered into this section can not be submitted to any other section (e.g. Fashion Films).

DIRECTION - UNDER 90 SECONDS


Jury will evaluate the talent and the storytelling skills of the director, as well as the visual elements used, such as the set design, the location and the wardrobe, the shot composition, lighting, casting and remaining film-related aspects. Films up to 90 seconds are eligible in this category.

DIRECTION - 90 SECONDS AND OVER


Jury will evaluate the talent and the storytelling skills of the director, as well as the visual elements used, such as the set design, the location and the wardrobe, the shot composition, lighting, casting and remaining film-related aspects. Films over 90 seconds are eligible in this category.

CINEMATOGRAPHY

Judges will evaluate the cinematographer (Director of Photography) skills in the technique and the construction of a unique visual style, involving aspects such (as) lighting, settings, textures, among others.

VISUAL EFFECTS

The jury will evaluate the integration of the visual elements captured by a camera and those made by the use of a computer (CG).
To enter this category we require companies to enter the piece with a breakdown next to it (the breakdown has to be 2 minutes length max.)

ANIMATION

The talent of the artist is evaluated in the creation of characters, elements or actions that provide the motion sensation and have been produced in 2D, 3D, Motion Graphics or Stop Motion.

EDITING

The evaluation process considers the creative contribution of the editor to an idea, either via the selection of the best shot of each take, the speed provided to the film or others.

PRODUCTION DESIGN

The category involves the overall look of the film that illustrates the setting and visual style of the story. Includes the design of the sets and location choices, among others.

CASTING

The jury will consider the casting director’s skills in selecting actors to play the main roles in the film, as well as the actors’s work and contribution to the piece.

COSTUME DESIGN

This award recognizes excellence in costume design. The jury will focus on the artistry, the technical expertise and the creative vision to design the clothing and the overall appearance of a character.

WRITING


The jury will take into account the contribution of the written script to a successful final execution. Characters, movements, actions, dialogues, scenes and expressions will be considered.

LOW BUDGET

Low Budget commercials made with few resources or experimental pieces are also welcomed to participate. In both cases, the production budget must be under USD 70.000 and built for TV, Internet, mobile, and/or other broadcast channels.

TITLE SEQUENCE

The jury will evaluate the craft skills of the participant in the creation of Title Sequences for feature films, short films, opening videos for festivals or exhibitions and games, in any existent technique. Corporate videos, shows idents and safety videos are also elegible in this category.

SOUND DESIGN

Judges will evaluate the creation and the artistic use of sound effects, human or computer generated voices and/or elements of music to exacerbate images. Sound could be developed for either a spot on live action, animation or any other.

ORIGINAL MUSIC

Judges will evaluate the original composition of a jingle or soundtrack applied to any advertising format. It can be made for a live action film, an animated film, a radio spot, an app, video game or any other.

ADAPTED MUSIC

Judges will evaluate the creative and intelligent use of pre-existent music, the quality of production, the originality in remixing and the musical arrangements. In the case of music that wasn’t originally composed, but is appropriate for the piece, jury will also evaluate the reproduction.

MUSIC SUPERVISION

Judges will consider the music supervisor’s skills to define the music-related aspects of a short film, TV, online or cinema ad, supporting and reinforcing the execution of an idea.

VIRTUAL REALITY - PRE-RENDERED

Any Virtual Reality application, content, music video or campaign created with pre-rendered imagery that can be seen on any VR device (including Google Cardboard, Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and similar devices). Judges will focus on the craft and the quality of the user experience. 

VIRTUAL REALITY - REAL TIME RENDERED

Any Virtual Reality application, content, music video or campaign using real-time imagery, that can be seen on any VR device (including Google Cardboard, Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and similar devices). Judges will focus on the craft and the quality of the user experience. 

INTERACTIVE FILM

Any project (commercial, branded content, music video or short film) that allows users to interact with film or use a 360 player to deliver a story or message. Judges will focus on the craft, the thought behind the user’s interactive experience, the beauty of the graphic design, photography, illustration, typography and / or sound design. To enter, upload the video and then provide a link to the work itself.

LIVE EXPERIENCE


This category recognises the best digital experiences in a physical environment, including retail, exhibition spaces or art installations. To enter, upload a case video.

APP


Native applications for mobile or other closed platforms. Judges will focus on the craft, the thought behind the interface, the beauty of the graphic design, photography, illustration, typography and / or sound design. To enter, upload a case video and then provide a web link that includes images of the interface. Social media apps can also be entered in this category.


WEBSITE DESIGN


Browser based sites that are viewed through mobile, tablet, or desktop. Judges will focus on craft, the thought behind the user experience, the beauty of the graphic design, photography, illustration, typography or sound design. To enter, provide the link to the live site, or a URL that will show the judges how the site looked and felt.
