COMMERCIALS and BRANDED CONTENT FILMS  created for any media, can be entered in this section.

DIRECTION - UNDER 90 SECONDS


Jury will evaluate the talent and the storytelling skills of the director, as well as the visual elements used, such as the set design, the location and the wardrobe, the shot composition, lighting, casting and remaining film-related aspects. Films up to 90 seconds are eligible in this category.

DIRECTION - 90 TO 180 SECONDS


Jury will evaluate the talent and the storytelling skills of the director, as well as the visual elements used, such as the set design, the location and the wardrobe, the shot composition, lighting, casting and remaining film-related aspects. 90 to 180 seconds films are eligible in this category.

DIRECTION - OVER 180 SECONDS


Jury will evaluate the talent and the storytelling skills of the director, as well as the visual elements used, such as the set design, the location and the wardrobe, the shot composition, lighting, casting and remaining film-related aspects. Films over 180 seconds films are eligible in this category.

CINEMATOGRAPHY


Judges will evaluate the cinematographer (Director of Photography) skills in the technique and the construction of a unique visual style, involving aspects such (as) lighting, settings, textures, among others.

PRODUCTION DESIGN


The category involves the overall look of the film that illustrates the setting and visual style of the story. Includes the design of the sets and location choices, among others.

CASTING


The jury will consider the casting director’s skills in selecting actors to play the main roles in the film.

PERFORMANCE


The jury will focus on the actor’s / actress’s skills to invoke a captivating performance and his / her contrinution to the piece. Body language, facial expressions, interactions, and dialogues are some of the aspects to be evaluated.

CHOREOGRAPHY


The jury will evaluate the choreographer’s skills to design and arrange the steps and movements performed in the film, taking into account the originality of the sequence, as well as the quality of execution and the contribution of the choreography to the commercial.

STYLING & COSTUME DESIGN


The jury will focus on the artistry, the technical expertise and the creative vision to design the clothing, the styling, the make up and the overall appearance of a character.

WRITING


The jury will take into account the contribution of the written script to a successful final execution. Characters, movements, actions, dialogues, scenes and expressions will be considered.


COMMERCIALS and BRANDED CONTENT FILMS of any length (up to 20 minutes) can be entered in this section.

EDITING

The evaluation process considers the creative contribution of the editor to an idea, either via the selection of the best shot of each take, the speed provided to the film or others.

VISUAL EFFECTS

The jury will evaluate the integration of the visual elements captured by a camera and those made by the use of a computer (CG).

To enter this category we require companies to upload a breakdown in a separate file. The breakdown has to be 2 minutes length max.

ANIMATION

The talent of the artist is evaluated in the creation of characters, elements or actions that provide the motion sensation and have been produced in 2D, 3D, Motion Graphics or Stop Motion.

COLOR GRADING


The jury will evaluate the colourist contribution to the visual tone and mood of the commercial. The focus will be on the image color, balance and “look” throughout the work.

SOUND DESIGN

Judges will evaluate the creation and the artistic use of sound effects, human or computer generated voices and/or elements of music to exacerbate images. Sound could be developed for either a spot on live action, animation or any other.

ORIGINAL MUSIC

Judges will evaluate the creation of a totally new piece of music – instrumental or vocal – commissioned specifically for, and applied to, any advertising format. It can be made for a live action film, an animated film, a radio spot, an app, video game or any other. The judging should focus on how well the music helps the film tell its story as well as the composition itself, originality, arrangement & production.

ADAPTED MUSIC

Judges will evaluate the creative and intelligent use of a reworking of pre-existent music e.g. remixes or cover versions or already existing music. The quality of production, the originality of the style of remixing or the new version and the musical arrangements should be considered.

MUSIC SUPERVISION

Judges will consider the music supervisor’s skills in helping to define the music needs of a short film, TV, online or cinema ad. This can include creating the music brief, identifying appropriate composers/ artists; identifying the right track or tone of the music; searching for tracks to fit the brief; and finally to clearing the tracks in order to best execute the creative vision of the film. Music supervision can be rewarded in both the creation of new tracks (Original Music), creation of remixed or cover versions (Adapted Music) or the sourcing and licensing of pre-existing music (Music Supervision).


Music Videos created for a song with promotional or artistic purposes, meant to be broadcasted on any media can be entered in this section. Branded music videos should be entered as Branded Content Film in the Production and Post-Production sections. Music Videos section is presented by Blur Films.

The jury will consider the location manager’s skills in finding and securing the right setting, natural landscape or building, for each scene. The judging should focus on the location’s suitability for the project, as well as its visual impact and contribution to the story.


FASHION FILMS


Short films comissioned by fashion, beauty and luxury brands, to be broadcasted on any media can be entered in this category. Jury will evaluate the talent and the storytelling skills of the director, as well as the visual elements used, such as the set design, the location and the wardrobe, the shot composition, lighting, casting and remaining film-related aspects. The complete piece should last no longer than 20 minutes. To submit your work, you must upload a trailer (3 minutes maximum) and provide a web link to the complete piece.

NEW TALENT IN DIRECTION


The purpose of this category is to introduce new directors to the world. Jury will evaluate the narrative and aesthetic innovation skills of upcoming directors in any kind of short form films: commerciales, music videos, documentary and fiction, both in live action and animated films.

To be elegible, directors must be up to 30 years old and they must have had less than two years of experience as directors.


NO LOGO


Any non-branded short film (fiction or documentary; live action or CGI) up to 20 minutes can be entered in this category.

WEIRD SH*T


Experimental films that explore alternatives to cinematic conventions and take storytelling to the next level can be entered in this category

The jury will evaluate the director’s boldness, originality and skills to create an unconventional film using new and traditional technical and creative resources.

The jury will evaluate the talent and the storytelling skills of the director, as well as the visual elements used, such as the set design, the location and the wardrobe, the shot composition, lighting, casting and remaining film-related aspects.

LOW BUDGET


Commercials and other short form films (music videos, documentary and fiction, both live action and animated films) made with few resources built for TV, Internet, mobile, and/or other broadcast channels are welcome to participate in this category. The production budget of the piece must be under USD 70.000.

LOCATION


The jury will consider the location’s contribution to the story. Either it’s a natural landscape or a building the jury will take into consideration the originality, features, visual impact and suitability for the project.


WEB & MOBILE CRAFT


Any project that shows exceptional craft in a web / mobile project. This could be a website, interactive film, mobile experience, or anything delivered through a web browser. Branded and non-branded projects are eligible in this category.

EXPERIENTIAL DIGITAL CRAFT


This category recognizes exceptional digital craft in a project delivered as part of an event or real-world activation. Headset based VR and AR experiences can be entered in this category. Branded and non-branded projects are eligible in this category.

USE OF EMERGING TECHNOLOGY


Enter any project that uses emerging or modern technology to deliver a creative concept.
